The Image and the Word
The Image and the Word is a photography-inspires-poetry and vice-versa exhibit created and produced by Derek Liebertz and Yvonne Cariveau. Local photographers are invited to submit photos (electronic or print form). Those images are shown to the poets and we write poems inspired by the images we see. Poems are submitted by poets for photographers to create photos for also (starting in 2010). Selected images and poems are hung in the guild exhibit hall for public enjoyment and inspiration for other artist and a reception is held where poets and photographers can read and comment on each other’s works. And we have a fun vote for favorite poem, favorite photo and favorite pairing of poem and photograph.
