about SMPS
The Southern MN Poets Society (SMPS) is a group of poetry-loving and poetry-generating people in the Mankato, MN area that has been meeting since the 1980s.
We have participated in many events, competitions and exhibits through the years.
- Image and the Word (10 yr running event with poets submitting poems inspired by local photographers)
- Mankato Poetry Walk and Ride (10 yr event - still going on - with poems on signs in Mankato/North Mankato)
- Coffee Hag and other local poetry readings in Mankato and the Twin Cities
- League of MN Poets competitions (submit poems to win cash prizes at regional and state events)
- WordWalk (a one-year sidewalk poetry project in Mankato)

Meetings: Second Saturday of each month (from Sept to May). Everyone is welcome!
